Studies on Fruit Size of Red Pepper

Abstract
The present studies were made to determine the correlation between fruit-size characters with hot pepper growing in Korea and the effects of size characters in F©û hibrids. The results obtained were summarized as follows:
1) Among fruit-size characters, that is, length and width of fruit, width of calyx, length and diameter of peduncle, and size of seed, there were all positive correlations. Among these the degree of correlations was the lowest between length and diameter of peduncle, and fruit width and peduncle length. Between peduncle diameter and calyx width, fruit width and calyx width, fruit length and peduncle diameter, and seed size and calyx width, peduncle diameter or fruit width it was very high. There also were shown comparatively high correlation among others(Table 2).
2) These fruit-size characters in F©û hybrids, though variable according to different combinations were much highly influenced by the longer or wider parents than the shorter or narrower. Consequently these F©û¢¥s were longer or wider than those of mean of the parents(Tables 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7) So it seemed to be partial dominate in the longer or wider parents.
